8/4/2023 Just got done watching it. Friday night 7pm MAJOR ISSUE! You can tell if a Seth Rogan Joke was inserted. The “Milking” Joke may have been funny once or twice. It got old after that. It would have been funnier if it was used less. In all seriousness it was used at least several times! I want to enjoy the movie. Everyone else around me in the theater seemed to have enjoyed it. While yes it comes off as a 2023 adaption of TMNT. It also felt like a lot of References were made. “Song Writers” “Other Movies” There were just so many pop culture references. At the start of the film it’s Seth Rogan saying thank you for buying a Ticket and watching our movie. There were issues that were not cannon or actual lore to the original film whatsoever. No Kasey Jones, No Oroku Saki, No Hamato Yoshi. It ignores any canon lore. And creates its own Seth Rogan version of TMNT. Flaws. “Spoiler” Scientists have snuck their research into their home to make the first ever created Mutant. These Military officials who allowed the scientist to do research needed to capture that Mutant. With a weapon that specifically kills Mutants. And that they need to capture this Mutant so that they can study it and create more mutants. How do you know this modified weapon kills mutants if you haven’t ever bagged one much less created one? For real the movie has these weapons meant to kill Mutants. But they want mutant’s alive??????? Um what? April O’neil, can care less on the skin tone. But the scene when she straight up mentions how she vomited on camera in front of her high school. As “Puke O’neil” Was one of those jokes where it wasn’t going to be visually established. OH NOW I WAS WRONG! They made it out to be a joke that was only verbally expressed at first. Then they actually went ahead and literally showed the flash back of her “Throwing up” Not once but 3 or more times. Sure haha funny high school girl throws up on camera. I was eating Pop-corn and drinking my fountain Dr Pepper as this was being played out mind you. And I am sure when you’re watching this film you’d be snacking too. While being utterly disgusted. Sure Haha funny girl throws up for a few seconds. NO! This was like a 20 second skit. It was hard to watch! The film’s biggest flaw is Rocksteady and Bebop as well as their origin story. I won’t spoil it. But let’s just say it’s not canon. Most of the film is about the Turtles which is fine. HOWEVER! the flaws about it. Is that the Turtles and their personality as most people have expressed. It’s not existent in this film. Any knowledge you know about TMNT as a kid. Is no longer there. All of the lore is gone. This film is its own take on TMNT. Some will enjoy it. Though someone like myself has the opinion of “That’s not how that happened” That’s inaccurate “Why do the turtles act and sound the same?” The only time they start being themselves is like maybe 30 seconds to a minute at most. Other than that they all sound and behave exactly the same. No Leader, No Powerhouse, No Brainiac, No Lax and chill. All 4 turtles literally behave the exact same. I’d say 80% of the film has a sense of direction in terms of plot. But …. Sigh. Towards the end of the movie. It shifts to something very mundane and generic. “Godzilla” ish. The last 20 min of the movie was meh. Thought it was initially over. But it wasn’t. It did the TMNT Revenge of the Ooze type of Ending with Shredder. But instead it’s with a different villain. No Foot Clan. No Shredder. Zero lore. Black April (WHY?) IDEK. 2/10 Worth watching once.
